Building a smarter invoice processing system with AI

DEV IT built an invoice processing solution on the Microsoft Power Platform that utilized AI to automate the process of invoices received. It used AI Builder's form processing functionality, which automatically extracts invoice data, including:supplier name, invoice number, invoice date and line items from uploaded invoices.

Also included is some built-in data validation that can determine missing information or find instances where data may not match, thus making invoice data more accurate and cutting down on manual checking. The finance teams reviewing it can see, edit and approve all the lines attached to the invoice right within the solution.

By streamlining invoice extraction, validation, and approval of workflows, our solution significantly reduced manual workload and improved finance operations. After the implementation, the client experienced many operational improvements. This includes 60% faster invoice processing and up to 90% improvement in data accuracy. It also delivered up to 50% improvement in operational efficiency, thereby paving the way for a scalable invoice management framework.
