Streamlining Microsoft 365 control through seamless tenant migration

The client wanted to migrate their email and collaboration services from the old domain and tenant to a new domain and tenant. The migration scope included transferring emails and OneDrive data for approximately 10 users. Additionally, they aimed to discontinue communication through the old domain and implement a strategic transition plan. Migration needed to be completed with utmost priority. During the discovery process, it was identified that the client was using a GoDaddy-hosted tenant, which altered the migration strategy to require a third-party tool. GoDaddy-hosted M365 tenants have API limitations for OneDrive migration, and the majority of third-party migration tool providers do not support OneDrive migration. Frequent revisions in the number of users changed the bill of material.

Suggested the client add the new domain as a custom domain in the GoDaddy-hosted tenant and change the UPN of the users’ accounts to the new domain. Reached out to different migration tool vendors to inquire about GoDaddy-hosted M365 tenant migration support. Performed DAR of suitable migration tools and finalized AvePoint Fly SaaS for the migration. Completed the migration in 24 hours. The transition from the GoDaddy-hosted M365 tenant to a separate M365 tenant allowed the client to manage the M365 subscription and workloads more effectively and efficiently. The migration was completed precisely and efficiently, ensuring an uninterrupted transfer of services and data. The thorough evaluation, efficient data migration strategy, and zero downtime ensured the transition was seamless, with no disruption to their daily operations.
